Blimey M8 ! You got it bad. I wish you all the luck in the world but rest assured, He will be more stronger than he was when he came out of the factory if you do your welding right. All the best with him. Keep your progress photos coming and your record up to date as people won't believe you how bad it was. I have seen worse brought back to life so keep up the good work.

Al, shouldn't that be "holes, rust, welding, bigger holes, more welding"
Keep up the good work - you'll get there in the end, but it is not fun out in the cold and damp.

Re: GIZMO My 67 Hornet
It's looking better all the time.
Take it easy. Try think a few steps in advance ie think if there is anything else you need to do behind or wherever that won't get in your way as such you may have to cut the new work out to get at it. Hard to put that down on paper! Hope you get my drift!
A mate of mine went bananas when he thought he was progressing well and found he had to to cut half of the new stuff off again. (sometimes you have to cut more off than you did originally!
An example of what I am trying to say is fitting of front wings. When about to fit them, put bonnet in place. Place wings in aprox position. check the gaps all round to get them right. Tack or Spot weld in a couple of places to hold them. Weld up when you are satisfied.
When I first got Myvanwy the mini van, the previous owner had welded two new wings on and when he put the bonnet on he had a gap of nearly 3/4" either side of bonnet, so much so the bonnet is such a tight fit it won't close properly! Just one of many things to be corrected when I get round to it!

Re: GIZMO My 67 Hornet
them cheap pergolas from argos are very handy at keeping the damp and wind off. Keep up the good work, every patch is one less to do

Re: GIZMO My 67 Hornet
Great stuff! That will really hold the rear nice and rigid.
You will have to start "Feeding that pot pig again and save some more pennies for the rest of him !"
